ISED follows a research and operations strategy, which can briefly be termed as a 'Hub & Spoke" model. Besides providing opportunities of focusing on its core principles and mandates, the' Hub and Spoke' formation enables the Institute to respond effectively to the benefits of social media and the 'new economy' in general brings such resources and dividends include both knowledge resources and social capital.
ISED believes and practices multi-location sourcing of expertise. The ISED ‘Hub & Spoke” model therefore, has been able to harness the best of talents and resources in its regular operations, in a cost effective manner. As a knowledge institution, the Institute works on the highest principles of knowledge sharing, rather than centralised activities, with compromise on quality.
While the above model offers significant opportunities for attaining international excellence and personal attainments, it encourages scholars and experts to work with it, wherever they are located.
Getting a job is easier than entering into the right career. But, opportunities of shaping a career, depends upon the type of organization in which one works. ISED believes in and practices the highest principles of responsible business (RB) in the labour market. As such, it closely monitors developments in the labour market from time to time, and responds to such changes through appropriate hiring policies. As such, within the broad technical and professional requirements, part-timers, women and marginal groups are given specific attention, and are accommodated in various programmes.
ISED, having a truly interdisciplinary track, and a spectrum of activities, offers enormous opportunities for young and aspiring professionals to shape an appropriate career. Leadership, managerial skills, and skills in articulation, and effective communication, are qualities that are characteristic of the ISED team. And these are the skills that are imparted by the Institute to young minds. The Team of the Institute is marked by its exposure in research, administration, and managerial fields. It offers a variety of programmes through which these capabilities trickle down. The following are the main career opportunities available at the Institute:
This includes Regular and Visiting positions. ISED attracts encourages scholars (both at senior and junior levels) desirous of pursuing serious academic/professional interest.
Technical support positions offer an interface of capabilities and experience. This enables one to grow with a knowledge institution. Members of this team get an opportunity to grow into Faculty positions as well.
'Talent Haven’ is an innovative programme of the Institute. The major currents in the latest phase of globalization, around the world, demonstrates two major streams of development:
4) Entrepreneurship in the Community
This is a programme meant to help educational institutions to cultivate entrepreneurship skills among students, through curricular and extra-curricular interventions. The programme is meant for members of Entrepreneurship Development Clubs and National Service Scheme of educational institutions, under a memorandum of understanding with the institution concerned. is meant to provide short term opportunities for students with the Institute, thereby helping them to mould an entrepreneurial approach to life and career. The minimum period of the programme is one month, and the maximum is three months (extendable in exceptional case).
5) Internships (ISED Knowledge, Skills and Entrepreneurship Mission)
The Institute, as a knowledge institution, has significant knowledge resources and capabilities. Such resources and capabilities come out essentially through its human resources. As a socially responsible entity, the Institute is keen that such resources and capabilities need to trickle down, for the benefit of the society as a whole. As such, ISED offers free Internships in such a way that these budding talents become capable of playing a socially meaningful role over time, besides ensuring their personal and professional growth. Besides gaining significant exposure on the theory and practice of sustainable development in general, an Internship at ISED provides significant insights into the theory and practice of enterprise and livelihoods development .The Institute encourages well-meaning and promising Interns and Apprentices through limited scholarships. (see, Comments from Interns). Also please see our brochure.
